Happy Father’s Day to my love

Happy Father’s Day Daniel! ♥

Father’s Day is almost over, but since it’s still June 20th here, I can wish Dan a Happy Father’s Day on my blog without having to tack on a “belated”. Anyway, the biggest gift I gave him in honor of Father’s Day was the gift of sleeping in. He’s been coming down with something (we’re thinking bronchitis) over the past few days, so last night, after leaving a family gathering at his aunt’s house (we celebrated his sister’s 18th birthday and his youngest brother’s recent graduation), we stopped by my mom’s house to pick up some antibiotics, and then came home. I doped him up with antibiotics, Nyquil and two healthy doses of codeine cough syrup, and set up our humidifier with a generous dose of Vicks VapoSteam on his nightstand. He fell asleep around midnight, and slept straight through until 2:30pm this afternoon. Man, there are some days when I get that amount of sleep in three nights!

Besides the massive loads of sleep (and meds, hehe), I made Dan homemade waffles and maple-flavored sausage for lunch, and then filet mignon, Yukon gold baked potatoes, corn on the cob and biscuits for dinner. Dessert was an incredibly yummy red velvet cake I ordered from our grocery store’s bakery the other day. And there were gifts, of course: a paint sprayer (we’ve already decided on the colors we’re going to use in all of the rooms! Ahh I can’t wait to get started!) from me, a Dean Koontz book from Alyssa, and a green and blue striped polo from Ryan. Between the two kids there were at least half of a dozen homemade cards, as well as a store-purchased one, and a store-purchased card from me.

Right now we’re both sitting here in our underwear (classy, I know); he’s playing some blood-shedding game on the PS3, and I’m multi-tasking (as usual). My vision keeps overlapping and I’m blinking like crazy, but I can’t figure out if I’m tired, or if I simply need some rewetting drops for my contacts.

If it makes you feel any better, I read this blog naked, so I’m even classier.

  2. Awww…sounds like he had a good Fathers Day despite being sick. :-)

That you went to your Mom’s house for antibiotics made me laugh. I’m picturing her in the white lab coat and dispensing all sorts of medications… from her living room.
