When in doubt, send gift baskets. Or gift cards. But Dan isn’t a fan of gift cards, so I revert to gift baskets. Gift baskets are fun to put together, if you know the recipient well enough to do a custom selection of items. But if you don’t know them well enough, or you don’t have the time or desire to put that much work into sending a nice gift, there are always pre-made gift baskets to choose from.
Pre-made gift baskets are great for any occasion, but especially for sympathy reasons (a get-well basket!), anniversaries, birthdays, the birth of a new child (I loveeeeeee putting together baby gift baskets), and for holidays! I think one of the greatest gift baskets Dan and I ever received was for Christmas. It featured a popcorn bowl, a box of microwave popcorn, and several DVDs. Simple? Yes. Effective? Heck yes! It was custom, it was sweet, and it was just what we needed.
