California Blooms

California Blooms I admit it: I’m a sucker for flowers. I joke that chocolate tastes better, but given the choice between a box of chocolates or a bouquet of roses, I’ll take the roses, pretty please. This thought process is what lead me to check out California Blooms, and accept their offer of a product review. I got to take my pick of colors, so I opted for orange. Red and pink roses are so cliche, and besides, what better color than orange for a blistering hot July?

The orange roses arrived on a Wednesday, which happened to be a crazy, run-around-all-damn-day kind of day for me. It was nice to come home, dump my stuff on the floor, and then flop on the couch. I did have to get back up in order to open, unwrap and set up the roses, but it was well worth the inconvenience:

As promised, the fresh roses sent by California Blooms were indeed fragrant, vibrant, and healthy. They had been carefully cut, bound together, then wrapped in brown paper wrapping, cushioned with brown crinkly paper straw, and even protected from the hot temperatures with a squishy ice pack! Also included in the box was an envelope containing instructions on how to best keep the roses.

The bouquet of orange roses looked beautiful, smelled divinely, and lasted for well over a week! As instructed, I changed the water every two days, cut about an inch off the stems at a 45° angle, and kept the roses out of direct sunlight. Even with the cats taking the occasional sniff or nibble, and the kids pressing their faces into the bouquet in order to inhale the fragrance, the roses still held up quite well. They also made a beautiful centerpiece for our coffee table. ♥ I was sad to have to finally discard them.

My experience with California Blooms was definitely a positive one. Their responses were nothing but polite, prompt and caring, the roses themselves were shipped quickly and of excellent quality, and the attention to detail in the packaging was quite impressive. Should I decide to send roses to anyone, I’m pretty sure my first choice will be California Blooms.
