If you’re a parent, sibling or caregiver to a child under the age of ten, then you have most likely heard of Yo Gabba Gabba! If not, think of Yo Gabba Gabba! as a more modern, urbanized version of Sesame Street. Both Alyssa and Ryan like Yo Gabba Gabba!, but it’s Ryan in particular that really enjoys the show. The bright colors, singing and rhythmic beats seem to draw him in, and I love the positive messages that the show promotes about family, friendship, and responsibility.
Right now Yo Gabba Gabba! is gearing up for their Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! There’s A Party In My City! Tour, which kicks off on August 27th, 2010 in Bethel Park, NY. Between then and December 12th, 2010, Yo Gabba Gabba! will be hitting up 60 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. They will be making stops in big cities, of course, but some smaller areas are on the list as well. Each show features state-of-the-art music, singing, dancing, an animation. The shows are interactive and encourage kids to join in with the dancing and festivities. In addition to the characters of Yo Gabba Gabba!, hip-hop legend Biz Markie will be on hand to teach kids how to box beat. Special guests will also be on stage for the Dancey Dance and Super Music Friends Show segments.
What’s really cool about the Yo Gabba Gabba! There’s A Party In My City! Tour is that throughout the entire tour, the Yo Gabba Gabba! gang will be participating in a variety of home and home building service projects throughout the cities they visit. Additionally, $1 from every tour ticket sold will go to the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate for each tour city.
Kia is the official tour sponsor, and they’ve already created a memorable appearance for themselves by releasing a Super Bowl ad which featured Yo Gabba Gabba! characters inside their 2011 Kia Sorento CUV.
I’ve been offered the opportunity to take my family to the Hershey, PA Yo Gabba Gabba! There’s A Party In My City! Tour city stop this October, thanks to the Hershey Theatre and the organizers of the tour, and I can’t wait! Alyssa and Ryan will love the show, and it will be a nice outing for the four of us to enjoy.
