[Sex accessory review] Pjur Bodyglide

Disclaimer: this is a review of a sex accessory.

Lubricant is something Dan and I keep around for anal play, as well as for the occasional solo stint where I could benefit from some additional lubrication of the synthetic variety. I’ve only ever tried water-based lubricants and the well-known, “gold standard” petroleum-based stuff, so when Fascinations asked if I would be interested in trying something new, I said sure.

Pjur Bodyglide I was sent a bottle of Pjur Bodyglide, which is a silicone-based lubricant that is safe for vaginal and anal use, as well as general lubricant use — it’s just not compatible with silicone sex toys. I have heard of Bodyglide products before, mainly in relation to personal massages, as well as in use by men and women who are very physically active and require a lubricant or protectant against friction and chafing; silly, naive little me didn’t realize that it was also appropriate for use during sex.

Pjur Bodyglide is free of scents and flavors, has been tested for allergies and other skin reactions in clinical research by dermatologists, and is safe for internal use. It’s also safe for latex condoms, which is something worth keeping in mind if protection against pregnancy and STDs is a concern.

I’ve used Bodyglide a few times on my own, with both plastic and glass toys, and it does perform quite nicely. The stuff is extremely slippery, and a little goes a very long way. I experienced no irritation or any kind of indicator that the lubricant wasn’t playing nicely with my girly parts, so I barely hesitated to pick it out for anal sex.

Now, here’s the thing with anal sex: you can never have too much lubricant. Even if there’s a “recommended” amount, feel free to double or even triple that. And replenish — often. Needless to say, I’m a bit picky with the types of lube I will use for anal sex. But I had good experiences with Pjur Bodyglide for other sexual activity, so I didn’t think twice about handing it to Dan, heh.

One thing I will say about Pjur Bodyglide is that a little does go a long way, and initially it creates a very slippery, frictionless, and easy experience. But also from my experience, I found that it didn’t have the stamina that we did, haha. I had to ask Dan to add some more at least two or three times.

In summary, I think that Pjur Bodyglide is a very nice lubricant. I would recommend it as a vaginal lubricant, either for sex or masturbation. I would also recommend it initially for anal sex. But if you plan on participating in anal activities for any length of time, you may find that you’ll need to apply some more.
