This is a guest post by Toni Jensen.
I come from a long line of football players. My dad was a four year starter on the offensive line at Western Michigan, and my younger brother and I both played high school ball. But now that we’ve grown up and moved out, it’s difficult getting together. We’re scattered all across the country. Add in all of our uncles and cousins, and finding something to do that we can all participate in is difficult. Having something to do that all of us can compete in keeps the family connected.
With fantasy football, I can set up a free league through ESPN’s fantasy games section and invite all of my male extended family. We can draft a full team of players and compete weekly once the football season gets underway. While it isn’t quite as good as watching the games together, after a long day on the ranch, I can come home and log on with hughes satellite in Wyoming while my dads on hughesnet satellite Montana and we talk trash and check our stats. Believe me, it’s a big deal in our family. The competition is intense for points award for various stats. My uncle Ben always scours the waiver wire for pickups, while I know my cousin Jensen will try to trade for the hot player of the week. Hopefully soon, the women in the family will want in on the competition as well.
