I wanted one of those awesome shots of her boarding the bus, perhaps looking over her shoulder at me, but of course we left the house late and of course the bus arrived right on time and we all had to run the last few hundred feet to the bus stop. Oh well. Dan led her to the bus, she got right on and seated, and then she was gone. She came back, of course, four hours later, smelling that grubby sweaty little kid smell, flushed and happy, backpack bursting with all sorts of paperwork and a few pieces of artwork.

My baby is in elementary school. I can’t believe it!

  1. Jeez…this is just wild. I can’t believe she has started Kindergarten and I can see how much older she has gotten. I guess I didn’t realize it until this photo. I’ve been following your blog for years. Even before Alyssa! I think I found you after you got into an argument with Karol of karoljo.com or whatever haha.

Well congrats to her :) I know you’re proud!

  2. Dan is rocking that shirt. Also, it looks like he’s flying!

    Hope she enjoyed school!

Oh my goodness, Jenn! I haven’t been to your site in a long time, and I cannot believe how different Alyssa looks! She’s so big! Is she tall for kindergarten, or is that just me? Congrats on embarking on this new phase of parenthood! I’m sure she’ll do wonderfully in school. :)

  4. Awww, she’s getting so big. It’s hard to believe our babies grow up so fast.

Wow ! She’s a big girl now and I’m sure mommy and daddy are so proud of her.

Aww she is so cute! And where has all the time gone!

  7. My son just started kindergarten today. I tried to get one of those “boarding the bus” shots as well, but it all happened so fast. Plus I was a little emotional when he was getting on the bus =/
Alyssa doesn’t have full-day kindergarten? Or have to wear a uniform? Lucky! My son’s school day starts at 8:25 and ends at 2:50. And he has to wear a uniform…..

  8. They grow up so quickly, don’t they? NHL starts second grade next week. I’m still unsure how I became the parent of a second grader. I know how I became a parent and all, but how did he get to second grade so quickly. Sometimes I wish I could hit the “slow motion” button on my kids. (Must be hidden next to “Mute.” ;-) )

  9. Full day kindergarten is the bomb! And I’m still kinda getting that weepy feeling every year when I take her on the first day.

Alyssa looks so cute! And yeah, Dan looks like he’s flying.
