The 30 Day Meme: Day 03 – Your parents, in great detail
My mother
My mother, Carolyn Ann, was born on April 26th, 1958, in New Jersey. She is half German, a quarter Polish and a quarter Welsh. She and my grandparents moved to Philadelphia when she was six years old. Two years later, my aunt, Jeanie, was born. She died when she was three days old due to prematurity and feeding issues that resulted in tears to her stomach. Seven years after that, my now-deceased uncle, Chris, was born. She graduated from high school in Philadelphia, attended college, then went on to be a teacher for a few years, before turning to medical work — phlebotomy in particular. She met my dad while working in a bank, began dating and shopping for Newport Beach jewelers together, and they got married two years before I was born.
Currently my mom lives with my brothers about eight miles from us. She is physically disabled due to morbid obesity, diabetes, neuropathy, and various complications relating to the three diseases.
My father
My dad, Mieceslaw Russell (he uses as his first name, since it’s easier to spell and pronounce!), was born on April 11th, 1956, in the ritzy suburbs of Pennsylvania. He is mostly Polish, with a bit of English mixed in. He grew up in those ritzy suburbs and didn’t move to Philadelphia until he was an adult. He has three younger step-sisters, as well as a stepmother.
He is currently living in a group home in Philadelphia, as he has severe anxiety, OCD, and a bit of bipolar thrown into the mix.
(I’m sorry this isn’t more detailed, but my relationship with my parents is… eh.)
