I need more weekends

This weekend was glorious. Dan and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary by exchanging gifts (speaking of which, I still need to pick out some photos for mine) and then going out to dinner. I picked a quaint, adorable and utterly delicious local restaurant. Dan had steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus & green beans; I had a chicken, shrimp and sweet corn risotto which was amazing, but will ultimately hit the trash can, as my stomach pouch is all Just Say No To Risotto. We split — or should I say I had a few nibbles of — a slice of oreo cake, and then we made a quick trip to Target before heading home.

Saturday? I slept in. I NEEDED THAT. I’ve been going on 6-7 hours of sleep night after night for several weeks in a row, and haven’t really had the opportunity to sleep in much. I crashed hard on Friday night, and didn’t drag myself out of bed until after 9:30am Saturday morning. I did some cleaning, some SEO work, made meals, ran two of the Persians (Max and Fritzy) to a low-cost vaccination clinic for rabies shots, baked cookies with the kids, dumped on said cookies (duh), watched a few episodes of Hoarders and then most of Super Size Me (irony: craving French fries and a fish fillet while watching a guy pickle his liver on a month of the stuff) and then went to bed before midnight on Saturday night.

Sunday was much of the same, though I outdid myself by sleeping in until 10:30am, and then doing some more massive pre-surgery, pre-birthday and pre-holiday cleaning, before running Blueboy to another low-cost vaccination clinic for a rabies shots, since I decided last minute I wanted to get him groomed today along with Max and Fritzy. I tend to do that: clear out the clutter and excess in anticipation of acquiring more of it. I’m also anxious about making sure the house is clean and picked up after and well-organized in time for my surgery, since it’ll put me out of commission — in terms of cleaning and all — for at least 1-2 weeks afterward. I definitely plan on enlisting Alyssa’s and Ryan’s help with feeding the animals, scooping the cat litter and taking Leah outside, but I’m not going to expect them to wipe down mirrors, attack hard surfaces with Lysol wipes or vacuum under the beds.

Speaking of vacuuming… nevermind, I think I’ll save that for another post!

Today: I worked, took Alyssa to the school bus, took the three Persians to the groomer’s for lion cuts (complete shaves with a mane and end-of-tail poof left), worked some more, picked up Ryan from preschool and then Alyssa from the bus, made lunch, did more work, ran a few quick errands (including signing an affidavit in front of a notary for a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Pillow I won from a giveaway at BlogHer ’10, ahhh!), did more work, and here I am… wrapping up my evening. *yawn*

Right now it’s a little after 8PM, and I am feeling like total and complete ass (I’m tired, and I think I’m getting sick — I have been feeling slightly feverish all day), so I think I’m going to wrap things up and perhaps indulge in an early bedtime! That sounds marvelous right about now. ♥
