Have any of you watched Sister Wives? I got into it in early October, right before I had my gallbladder removed, and I stocked up the DVR with the remaining episodes for me to watch while I was recovering. And true to my intent I did watch them all, and even tweeted (I used the hashtag #sisterwives, in case you’re interested in seeing what I had to say) about a few of the episodes. Besides the sense of surrealness (could I really stand by while my husband not only had sex with but loved another woman? Hell to the no!) the show gave me, I just couldn’t get over some of the things the wives worked themselves up over. Take the fiasco over the wedding dresses, for example. Robyn couldn’t just pick out a pretty dress with the aid of the three sisters, noooooooooo. She had to make a big deal over one hideous long-sleeved gown versus another, then ultimately not picking any. As if that wasn’t irritating enough, she and Kody — who obviously wasn’t yet her “husband” — went back to the bridal boutique in secret to do their own shopping for bridal gowns.
The wives were really upset about that, and about other things that really weren’t worth getting upset about it, once you step back and take a look at the big picture. That’s my approach to things. Life is too short and there are too many important memories to make and enjoy to get caught up with the silly, trivial things that really mean nothing, or next to nothing, once the dust settles.
I agree Jenn, They get worked up for the silliest things! I watch this show because it interests me… Not really their family but the polygamist lifestyle because I could NEVER imagine putting myself into that situation. Mary annoys me though, She was soooo jealous over Robyn yet she is the one who introduced her and made the first moves with Kody.. I just don’t understand how she can get her panties in such a bunch when she is the one who started that whole thing. lol
