December 4 – Wonder.
How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?
The answer to that is simple: by observing Alyssa and Ryan and how they interact with us, each other, and other people. Also, by seeing how the little things in life — like peeling crayons in order to break them up and make snowman-shaped crayons out of them — can mean so much to them. Last week we went to a Christmas tree farm, and Alyssa thought it was the coolest thing ever. This morning I woke up to a stranglehold bear hug from her, simply because I caved and got her the Hello Kitty Christmas stocking she has been asking for since last year (I switched out her Disney Princess stocking with it last night). Ryan is fascinated by hot air balloons and wants nothing more in life than to ride an airplane, and he gets the crazy giggles over little things, like tacking on the word “hot dog” or “applesauce” to names, places and foods.
You want wonder? Spend some time with a young child.
