Literally, if you ask the doctor who did my endoscopy yesterday afternoon, after he checked out my esophagus, stomach pouch, and what looks like only the first few feet of small intestine. Now, I’m not going to argue that I don’t have what I will gingerly label as bowel issues, ones that seem to have arose after I had my gallbladder out in October, but I don’t eat nearly enough food to cause the pain I’ve been having. And I know my bathroom habits — many times when these painful episodes are happening there is nothing there to cause them. In any case, I do still need to schedule an upper GI picture test (I forget the medical name for it), but had held off in the hopes that the endoscopy would find something and thus eliminate the need for me to go through the hassle of drinking nasty chalky liquid for several hours.
In any case, the endoscopy itself was painless, unless you count the hand IV that the nurse unfortunately placed in a bad spot. Hand sticks are never pleasant, but this one was especially painful, and what sucked even more was that it wasn’t just a thin needle, but a damn catheter that was left in place in order for fluids and the sleep-inducing goodness of Propathol. Speaking of which, they must have used more of that this time or something. Last time I “held on” long enough to feel myself falling asleep. This time, I no sooner experienced an ear ringing sensation (caused by the Lidocaine they inject prior to the Propathol, since apparently it can cause a burning sensation in the vein) and said, “Oh, there’s that ring…” and I was out. Heh. I woke up in the same room I was initially brought into, and like before I felt extremely drowsy from the drugs, though my mind was wide awake. If that makes sense. Oh, and I apparently drooled all over my shoulder while they were performing the endoscopy. Classy, no?
So, that was my afternoon yesterday. The doctor recommended Miralax (as if I don’t already have four or five different products in our medicine cabinet to assist with those issues…), which Dan insisted on purchasing at Target when we stopped for cat food and dog food. We came home with pizzas, fed everyone (everyone being the kids, and my mom and brothers who were here watching the kids while Dan and I were out), and then got the kids settled for bed as it got later. I went to bed deliciously early last night — 11:30pm! — and after confirming that the schools were closed this morning (well, the elementary portion of them, anyway. The poor bus drivers still need to get the middle and high school students home) and making sure the kids were still sleeping, went back to bed for a few hours. It was quite nice. ♥
Today I’m going to work on a new layout for Jenn.nu. I have a spiffy white/dark gray/pink/purple color scheme put together, so here’s to making this new layout happen sometime today!

I hope things work out for you, Jenn. I’ve had to go through both of those procedures before as well.
I can’t wait to see the new theme. The colour scheme sounds pretty
The test with the awful tasting stuff is a Barium swallow. I don’t blame you for not wanting to have it done.
I’m looking forward to the new theme.
I am so sorry. I know those aren’t fun. I haven’t gone through it, but I have seen my Mom have it a few times. I hope you get some relief from your pain. I feel your pain in your stomach because I get it too, but its from IBS. Did they rule that out??
Can’t wait to see your new theme!!
Ugh, that sucks they can’t know what’s the real problem. Unidentified pain is such a bother.
Hey, your new theme is really nice. It’s refreshing.
Hope they get your bowel problems worked out.
I like the new theme! It looks great! I hope they can figure out what is wrong.
