When you work from home, you don’t get a weekend

Seriously. You don’t really get holidays, either. That’s right — I’ve been known to hop on my desktop or laptop and do work for Fountain Valley jewelers or whatever other current client at the moment on birthdays (including my own), Easter, Thanksgiving, even Christmas. So all of you are all, “Yay! It’s Friday!” and I’m like, “Oh great, that means two days with bored kids1 and no school to break up the monotony.”

But at least those kids are cute. The cuteness helps.

  1. The nice thing about spring and summer is being able to herd them to any of the local parks or the pool and turn them loose for a few hours

  1. On the plus side you can work in pj’s :P. Try working internet marketing at an office. Not only do you not get real days off (sure you get the weekend, but your always checking everything and you need to be on call for an emergency), but you also have to work your 9 to 5 ;).

  2. You do have two very cute kids, Jenn! I can’t get over how much Alyssa looks like you.

Right now, I wish I had a job, any job …

  3. I have a work schedule with no set days off, so I feel your pain. I’ve worked full shifts on my birthday and the only two days of the year we are every closed is Thanksgiving and Christmas. Damn work getting in the way of life! But yes, on the plus side, the cute faces make it all worthwhile!
