When it comes to sex toys, my preferred product for a quick fix is the standard egg or bullet vibrator. Small and rounded in shape, most egg and bullet vibrators pack powerful vibrations in small packages, which makes them great for use during penetrative sex or for solo play. The Bliss, a large egg-shaped (and sized!) bullet from California Exotic’s Couture Collection line, is larger than other bullet/egg vibrators I’ve tried throughout the last ten years, but its wireless/rechargeable and remote-controlled features appealed to me, so I decided to give it a whirl.
Bliss is definitely pricey for an egg vibrator — at $99.99, it’s easily one of ten most expensive vibrators that I own. But people, it’s wireless! I can’t tell you how many corded vibrators I’ve broken over the years due to excess strain/pulling/tangling of the wires. Also, it’s controlled by a small remote, although if you’re careless like me, you may find that to detract rather than add to the whole package deal. You see, the Bliss can charge up on its own (when placed in the heart-shaped dock) and turn on, but in order to use and cycle through the multiple vibration modes, you must have the remote. Also? Don’t leave the included (and expensive) small battery inside the remote, because it will run down even when not in use (tip: you can get these batteries in 2-packs at Radio Shack for $8.79).
As excited as I was about Bliss, I was ultimately disappointed. In my experience California Exotics produces small vibrators that produce deep, thrummy and strong vibrations. Bliss fell short of the mark; in fact, its vibrations felt rather hollow, and somewhat rattly. If you’re like me and require those deep, thrummy vibrations in order to have an orgasm, Bliss may leave you wanting. But if you don’t need stimulation that is quite so intense, Bliss will be a great — albeit pricey — investment.
