I have been living on my own (well, with Dan) since August of 2002. Between then and now we have moved five times, each time having a little more stuff to drag along with us. And since adding kids and doing a lot more cooking at home, I’ve definitely been adding various gadgets and accessories to my kitchen. We’ve come a long way from our first kitchen, whose cookware and gadgets and accessories could fill a small box, to now, with nearly a dozen cabinets bursting at the seams. But still, there are things that I’ve been lacking, until CSN Stores and their generous offer of a product review stepped in to save the day:
Pancake Dispenser
There’s the Craftsmen Pancake Batter Dispenser (what I like to call the pancake blopper), which is a handy dispenser that you fill up with batter, then pull up on the spring-style handle to lift up the seal at the bottom of the dispenser — through which pancake batter (or any dough of similar consistency) pours through at a steady but slow enough rate to allow you to easily make uniformly-sized pancakes on a large cooking surface.
Rolling Pin
Until the sexy Creative Home marble rolling pin arrived Dan and I were using a cheap little Target One Spot ($1 items) rolling pin that I picked up back in 2004-2005. I can count on one hand the number of times I have used a rolling pin between then and now, which is why I didn’t bother to look for a better alternative until Dan started griping about it whenever I’d ask him to help me make cookie-cutter cookies (I hate rolling out dough — it seems to stick to everything but the cutters themselves). This pin is nice. The fact that it’s made out of marble makes it that much easier to use — the heavy weight of the marble means having to exert less effort with your hands!
Egg Rings
What the heck are egg rings? I wondered that too, until one day I was inspired to make homemade sausage & egg biscuits, but had no way to keep the eggs pretty and circular in shape. My mom recommended that I pick up some egg rings, so I ordered a set of Paderno World Cuisine Egg Rings, which work quite nicely.
Last but not least, I decided to share the domestic kitchen love with my brothers’ girlfriends by ordering each of them the Pyrex Bake & Prep 11 Piece Set, which includes two rectangular dishes with lids, three nesting round rishes with lids, and a 9″ pie plate. I personally love Pyrex because you can use one dish to prep, bake and store a casserole-style meal or dessert. It’s heavy, yes, but it’s so versatile that its heaviness is insignificant in comparison!
Once again, a huge thank you goes out to CSN Stores. Their amazing selection, awesome prices and fast shipping have made me a very happy wannabe domestic goddess!
