Now that August has arrived, all that keeps going through my head is, “TWENTY-EIGHT DAYS UNTIL THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!” (For those of you who are all, “*gasp* I cannot believe you are excited for the first day of school; I am drowning in tears of sorrow at the prospect of being separated from my precious darling snowflakes for several hours each day”, save it, because I have never been, nor will I ever be, that kind of mother.)
Besides the whole, “the countdown is ON!” complete with a fist pump, I’m just happy that the summer is winding down. It’s been a whirlwind. I swear I blinked and June disappeared, and now July is gone too?
To recap July:
- My brother spent the weekend of his birthday with us (yay!)
- Dan and I spent four days in Wildwood, NJ with Jason
- I broke Dan’s neck (oops)
- Dan and I were approved as foster parents (technically we’re called resource parents, an “umbrella term” under which foster parents and kinship placement families are lumped under)
- My brother joined our household, and more importantly, our family
- Ryan turned five
- Dan and I wrapped up the month with Ryan’s birthday party, attended by family and very close friends ♥
I love the start of a new month. So much opportunity, so many possibilities!
P.S. TWENTY-EIGHT DAYS BABY!
P.P.S. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

OMGZ Jenn, how can you bare (bear?) the thought of having 7 hours to yourself every weekday? You selfish person, you.
Dude, I cannot wait until I can kick these kids out of my house for several hours every day. My favorite commercial ever is that Staples back to school commercial with the song “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.
Oh wow, I remember that Staples commercial! I can’t wait for back-to-school shopping… I’ll be stocking up on things for myself, as well!
Taylor goes back on the 18th, which seems kind of early. And they only break for summer a couple of days earlier than this last school year.
