I am my crockpot’s bitch

I love love love love LOVE my crockpot. I won my very first crockpot at a work-sponsored barbecue back in the summer of 2004, and I’ve gone crazy with it. I finally upgraded it like five years ago, and now that fall is pretty much here (60° temps and rain, anyone?), I’m all about the CROCKPOT! Tonight I’m making a roast with a yummy steak grill rub all over it, and seasoned carrots and some celery for extra flavor; and two weeks ago I made chicken bacon ranch recipe that Caitlin recommended. But I want more recipes. Needs more recipes! Share your recipes!

  1. I love my crock pot/slow cooker. I have only used it a handful of times but plan to use it lots more once the baby comes. Just set it & forget it. I often find my recipes on the kraft Canada website (kraftcanada.com) I really like the orange BBQ pulled pork :) yumm….. I have also made an awesome chicken chili too.

My first crock pot came for Christmas after Jeremy and I got married, so 2008 I think? I’ve used it twice. Once for pot roast and a second for mac and cheese. Now that fall is here I too would like to use it more, but it’s so tough finding a recipe that I think Jeremy would enjoy as well.

I will admit though that crock pot veggies from pot roast (celery, potatoes, carrots) are my favorite.

  3. I make my spaghetti sauce in the crockpot. :) We also make a beefy vegetable soup type-thing in the crockpot. That’s about it. LOL Oh, I made chicken soup in there once too. I don’t use recipes, I just throw stuff in the crockpot and go. LOL

  4. We actually have 2 crockpots. (Kosher at home so one is for meat and one is for dairy.) I have a really good chili recipe and an apple sauce recipe that’s incredible. (I drink the hot juice left over from making the apple sauce… it’s that good!)

Here’s the apple sauce recipe: http://www.techydad.com/2009/12/cooking-with-techydad-homemade-applesauce-and-crispy-apple-skins/

After searching my blog, it would appear that I’ve never blogged my chili recipe. I don’t know how that’s possible since we love it so much! I guess that means I’ll have to blog it this fall. (If you want, though, I’ll e-mail you a PDF of the recipe. It’s meat-free, but can easily be modified to include meat.)

  5. Ooh yum! We recently got a crockpot so I am going to have to try some of these recipes, too.
