I went to the doctor today, and as I suspected (thanks to Google, medical sites and your input), I have indeed broken my foot – I have a stress fracture around the fifth metatarsal. Awesome, I know. Now the battle to find a boot to wear so I can be comfortable and not slow down the healing process. I’ve visited one medical supply store and called five others, and none have boots in stock. What the hell? Is there an epidemic of broken feet or something?

Can you order one like a pizza?
Dear heavens – at least they want you to get a boot (and why didn’t the doctor give you one or send you to the ER to pick one up – they usually have them) – they left me “open” with crutches for a month. *rolls eyes*
Hope it gets better quickly as those are painful as heck!
Ouch!! Get better soon??
Ouch! Get better soon!!
I find it really odd that they didnt give you a boot. After diagnosing you with a fracture the doctor just let’s you walk out the door without even a cast? When I fractured my ankle/foot last year the doctors office gave me a boot and crutches then billed the insurance Because they wouldn’t let me walk out the door without it, haha. Is your insurance at least paying for it or are you paying out of pocket?
Same with me. I broke my foot in Indy walking down the sidewalk and had to take an ambulance to the hospital because I kept trying to pass out and couldn’t walk on it. They wrapped it up really, really huge to get me home and the next day I was at the hospital here. Got diagnosed, saw a surgeon, and got a book. Maybe if you have to see a surgeon they will give you the boot then? If not call an orthopedic surgeon and ask them where the hell you get it because using nothing or crutches is just absurd. You’ll see that after you get the boot! It heels so much faster and you can actually do stuff!
Good luck. I did this almost 10 years ago and it has that arthritic pain now when it rains or I twist my foot the exact right way, or it just feels like it.
