(This blog entry is all over the place. I blame my lack of focus on TV, rainy weather and medssssssssss. You’ve been warned!)
Oh hey, new layout here at Jenn.nu. This is probably the quickest layout change I’ve pulled off in a long while. I got sick of the other layout I had up. Part of that, I think, is due to me spending just way too much time putting it together and adding the final touches. For those of you that design your own layouts or illustrations, do you get that? You know, where you look at something so long that you begin to dislike it? I think that’s what happened here. Plus, after receiving some feedback and taking a second (and third and fourth and fifth) more thorough look, I was tired of the font, the logo, the colors. The everything. Heh. I sort of dreamed up this look for Jenn.nu while I was making dinner (multi-tasking ftw!), and a quick browse at Colour Lovers gave me the perfect color scheme to work with.
Semi-related: does anyone know how to swap out the standard submit button on the comments page with a spiffy image? I’m using the “new” format of styling comments and forms, so I’m working with functions and function calls in both comments.php and functions.php, and I haven’t yet found a solution. I was able to style the search box easily enough (look up!), but haven’t had any luck with the comments form. I have the perfect image in mine – made in Photoshop and saved and uploaded and everything. I am a sad Jenn.
Right now I’m watching Hoarding: Buried Alive, and accumulating a small cat worth of fur on my shirt thanks to Fritzy, who can’t get enough of me lately. Kirin has been like that too. I don’t know what’s up with those two. Fritzy isn’t too bad, though he sheds, and when he’s happy he tends to flex his claws (ouch!). Kirin sheds too, but he doesn’t flex — instead, he drools. Also, he’s over 20 lbs, and my lap really isn’t big enough for him (not that he cares). :zipped:
I’m on day three of my period, and I feel like I’m dyingggggggggggg. :yell: The cramps are unreal. The amount of blood and clots (sorry) are unreal. “Never trust anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn’t die.” Haha, I remember hearing that in middle school. During my last two periods I made it through with Midol and just two muscle relaxants. I just took my fourth since my period started. Amanda was telling me about some type of uterine ablation technique, and since I have no plans to EVER become pregnant again, I think I’m going to research it a bit more, and depending on what I find out, talk to my doctor about it.
Speaking of Amanda, her daughter Sophie is coming to spend the weekend with us! I can’t wait until Saturday – Dan’s aunt and uncle’s annual kick-ass Halloween bonfire is that night! We haven’t missed a single one since we were first invited in 2005. There’s at least fifty people who come each year, plenty of kids who are usually in costume (this year Alyssa is going as Clawdeen Wolf from Monster High1, and Ryan is an overpriced red Angry Bird), and tons of food and desserts and candy and drinks – and of course a bonfire, complete with plenty of seating around it, wood to toss on it as needed, and all of the essentials for S’mores! This year Dan and I are contributing by bringing along hot chocolate mixes and Godiva white chocolate liquor. ;)
Right now I’m not thinking about Saturday (though I’m trying to decide which costume I’ll freeze less in: cop or fairy), but tomorrow: Ryan has a cavity that needs to be filled. Dude, it took two nurses and me to hold him down long enough to get two shots in his thighs. I cannot imagine what it’s going to be like tomorrow (needle in the MOUTH, drill in the MOUTH, ahhh!), but I swear I’m going to pre-medicate, haha. Dan even took off of work so he can go (for whatever reason he’s been handling most of the dental stuff for the kids, but that’s fine by me – one less thing for me to worry about!), and I’m insisting on going along because Ryan is going to be an absolute mess, and I want to be there with him – and to help Dan, who doesn’t handle the stress of screaming, hysterical kids very well for any length of time.
- my age is showing: I never even HEARD of this show/toy/whatever until Alyssa asked for the costume ↩
