So far my day has been uneventful. I first woke up around 8:30am, to the sounds of Ryan singing “Zippity Doo Dah” and Dan complaining about the fact that Kirin, our slightly neurotic cat, peed in our bathroom yet again. Fortunately, the shower curtain had not been hung back up after we had taken it down and washed it yesterday after Kirin peed in the bathroom then (he’s done this about a half dozen times in the past week; clearly, something is making him more spazzed out than usual – we’re just not sure what), so all that needed to be done was wiping up the floor with tissues/toilet paper, going over it with disinfecting wipes, and then going over it again with a mop, and finally finishing off by liberally spraying the area with anti-urination product. Dan should have done all of this, as I’m under orders from my surgeon and her assistant to stay off my feet as much as possible, because my intestines and general abdomen are still swelling pretty badly, and I’m still in pain. But Dan was super pissed about the piss (ha), and stomped back to bed, so I cleaned it up.
After making sure Alyssa and Ryan were situated with breakfast and something to do (they were building Angry Birds out of Jenga blocks and regular wooden blocks; this makes me incredibly happy that I found and purchased the Angry Birds Knock on Wood Game as a Christmas gift!), I crawled back to bed to try and catch another hour or so of sleep.
When I woke up a half hour later, it was to Ryan coming in for morning cuddles, which unfortunately ended up with him jumping into the bed and landing on my stomach knees first. Oy. I downplayed just how much that REALLY FREAKING HURT, because Ryan has been expressing some anxiety at school over Mommy’s broken belly, and proceeded to show him how to cuddle with me more gently. Then I put in a Max & Ruby DVD that he requested, brushed Alyssa’s hair and put it up in a ponytail, and insisted she wear a coat if she wanted to go outside to play — which she did, so she did.
Dan woke up around that time, and after I had a brief, awkward but very much to-the-point conversation with my brother about shutting and locking his bedroom door if he wants “private time” and washing his hands afterward (blech sdfgh#@$!@!@%!!), I came back into the bedroom and sat on the bed and folded some laundry for Dan to put away. That was two hours ago, FYI, and the neatly folded and organized laundry is still sitting there, waiting for Dan or someone to put it away. Sigh.
Then I sat on a kitchen chair and re-organized my cabinet of pots and pans and such, which has been rifled through and made into a complete mess over the last week and a half, heh. It wasn’t so much my OCD about organized cabinets kicking in as it was the desire to see the one cabinet door shut properly, which it wasn’t able to do because of pots being scattered every which way.
Finally, I took a few quick photos of Dan making homemade sugar cookie dough (it’s currently chilling in the refrigerator) and Ryan watching him, and then I came and sat down. I’m still sitting, and I plan on continuing with sitting for a while, because I’m all swollen and bloated and hurty again. Blah.
So even though my day is less than half over, that’s what you get, heh.

Re: the cat peeing in the bathroom, my Luca started that routine right before he got a diabetes diagnosis and then a few months later when he started getting liver/kidney problems from the diabetes, so a check-up wouldn’t hurt! Most likely it’s just stress, but it would be good to have it checked out because diabetes does kind of strike without much warning.
