I really have a hard time dreaming up what my ideal first date would be, simply because it has been so long since I dated. Dan and I had our first date on August 16th, 2000, and we’ve been together ever since (engaged in August of 2001, living together as of August of 2002, then married in October of 2004!). But if I had to pick my ideal first date, I’d probably want my first date to be just like it was with Dan. ♥
So, what was our first date like? Well, we went to an amusement park! Dan picked me up early that morning, only he wasn’t alone – his two brothers, C and K (who were 16 and 11 at the time), and his friend, M (who was 18 at the time), were with him. Granted, sharing my “date” with three other guys was a little awkward, but at the same time they were a welcome relief from the initial awkwardness and shyness that accompanies any first date. Also, Dan had planned on this particular trip to the amusement park for several weeks; he asked me to go with him a day after we spoke to one another about our true feelings about each other (which were a nice combination of “like” and infatuation and lust, heh, and of course the beginnings of love!), and I said yes.
Once we were at the park we initially hung out together, but then Dan and I split off to ride a few rides on our own and spend some time together. We met up with the guys later on in the day and stuck together for the rest of the night, and at the end of the night, after Dan dropped off his brothers at their house and his friend at his house, Dan took me home, and we had our first kiss. The perfect ending to a perfect, if somewhat long (like 19 hours long) date.

I love this… it’s a much better first date story than mine: “We went to see Johnny English and he tried to put his hand up my skirt in the theatre.”
