Auld Lang Syne

And just like that, not only is Christmas over, but so is the entire year. This year it seemed like the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve positively flew by. All in all, 2011 was a good year for me, though it was a stressful, hectic one. 2010 was like that in terms of work, but 2011 took the cake in terms of family drama and my own “health” issues (I hesitate to use that label because to me, “health issues” implies chronic disorders or diseases, whereas I’m having chronic pain issues that will hopefully be resolved with surgery).

We have absolutely no plans for New Year’s Eve, other than Alyssa and Ryan being allowed to stay up until midnight to watch the ball drop (Ryan, however, is more excited at the prospect of staying up until the famed midnight hour; I don’t think he could give a rat’s ass about a sparkly ball dropping and the entire east coast erupting in cheers, screams, hugs, and kisses), and Dan and I hanging out with them. He should be home from work by 9:00pm, and I’m going to do my best to wrap up my stuff by then, so we can spend the next three hours just relaxing.

Once upon a time Dan and I would always have sex on New Year’s Eve, beginning a few minutes before the stroke1 of midnight, but I don’t think we’ve done that since 2007 or so. Between having people over (which we’re not doing this year, yay!) and having babies who didn’t necessarily sleep at midnight, it just hasn’t been an option. And since we’re letting both Alyssa and Ryan stay up with us to see the ball drop, here goes yet another year without us taking part in our “old” tradition. Oh well – there’s always after the sproglets go to bed. ;)

  1. har har, stroke

  1. Yeah, 2011 went SO FAST. I have been changing up my traditions in the past couple years too and I love it! :D

  2. I’ve never been fortunate enough to participate in stroke of midnight sex. The one year Adam and I were here alone, he was so drunk he passed out before midnight! Oh well.

This time, we had friends over. It was a lot of fun. :) Ronni’s last blog entry: Looking Ahead…
