The 30 Day Meme: Day 1 – A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.
My day has been incredibly blah and uneventful. A serious surge (or decline or whatever) of girly hormones has left me feeling quite down and weepy, to be perfectly honest. I’m also tired and maybe ODed on the Midol Complete just a bit, because I’ve been drippy and feeling slightly disconnected from myself all day long. The highlight of my day was probably driving to the grocery store listening to Sirius, and then finding a $1 coupon that a random coupon fairy left for a product I went to the store to purchase. Yes, that $1 savings has made my day.
I’ve seen this meme floating around on a few blogs, most recently Samantha’s, so I decided to give it a whirl. I’ve been doing good with my 365 (only one photo missed so far this year!), and my new camera bag and all those lenses has me itching to take photos more. Soooooo… here goes!

You know what sounds amazing? The opportunity to go on a vacation at a villa. I could definitely go for a nice weekend or even week-long stay in a villa in England, Scotland, Italy, or even here in the states somewhere. It would have to have electricity and running water, of course, as well as air conditioning and internet access.
If such a trip sounds perfect to you, and you do have the opportunity to make a reservation but don’t know where to start, why not check out Owners Direct at ownersdirect.co.uk? They have listings for villas of all types, including villas in Italy and villas in Majorca. Additionally, you can find listings for golf and skiing resorts, so there is definitely something for everyone!
My boobs hurt and my uterus hurts and I’m incredibly sad and on the verge of tears. Hello stereotypical woman on her period? Ugh. This intensifying of hormones for PMS and menstruation really, really suck.
In happier news, Dan and I surprised Alyssa and Ryan with a trip to a local kiddie amusement park yesterday. The place is less than a half an hour from us, so it kind of amused me to make a take a short drive to a place that people drive hours, literally hours, to get to. Suckers. *snicker* We got there in time for the twilight rates, and hearing the kids’ indrawn breaths and squeals of delight when we pulled into the parking lot was SO worth it. Now it makes me wish we had done it sooner!
Our trip was the second for Dan and Alyssa (they went two years ago), and the first for Ryan and I. Alyssa and Ryan rode their first “big” roller coaster (Ryan tested the waters on a smaller one), several other spinny rides and the swings (I skipped the spinny rides and the swings, because spinning rides and I do not get along) and the skylift, and a log flume ride that Ryan giggled like crazy over and begged us to do again (we did, of course). We even let Alyssa and Ryan ride a swinging space shuttle ride on their own, which gave me a colossal heart attack seeing how small they looked in the seat and how flimsy the bar seemed and how fast the ride went. (But they were fine, of course. I just had a case of Mom Nerves.)
Unfortunately the three hours we had weren’t enough to do all of the rides, so we’re going to go back next Saturday evening a little earlier (I found coupons which will give us almost the same amount of savings on regular tickets that we had by purchasing twilight tickets, yay!) and hopefully do the entire park in one visit.
My car rolled over 110,000 miles at the end of May, and promptly fell apart. Well, maybe fell apart is the wrong description to use, since it implies major repairs, but there were definitely a few things to take care of. First it was the battery. Then it was the alternator. Then it was the new battery that the dying alternator took out with it. After my car was up and running again (thanks to my awesome not-a-mechanic-but-can-still-fix-it husband ♥), I had a weird issue where my headlights and interior lights would flick off and then on again whenever I used my turn signal. That issue went away, but now my front passenger window won’t go up or down with the power button on that said, and my exhaust sounds kind of rattly. Grrr.
My car is eight years old and is now at 111,000 miles, so I’m not surprised that it’s developing quirks, but it’s still disheartening. I heart my car, and I want it to heart me back by running without issue! But I’m also realistic, and I expect that I’ll get another five or so years out of it before I’ll need to think about a replacement. While I probably will end up getting another Kia Spectra, or perhaps a Hyundai Elantra (comparable to the Spectra), I’m sure there are plenty of other used cars that would fit my needs.
Obviously pricing is a priority. Even used, I don’t think I could handle lexus ls 600h prices or lexus is prices. Now hyundai genesis prices would be more in my price range, so that’s something worth thinking about.
Of course, I could be a total mid-life-crisis guy and research chevy traverse prices, but I think ultimately I’ll be more economical with my choices. Five years from now it’ll be 2015, which means I could get a 2010 or so Kia Spectra with 50,000 or so miles on it for a fairly decent price. What do you think?
