Before my weight loss journey and subsequent gastric bypass surgery, whenever I would buy clothes I would simply grab the 26/28 and hoped it fit, and then grab the 30/32 in case it didn’t. I almost never ordered clothes online, unless they were from Fashion Bug or Lane Bryant, because I never knew what to expect as far as sizing differences. It’s a well-known fact that a 26/28 in one brand may not fit the same as a 26/28 from another brand. And generally, the cheaper the clothing line or item, the smaller it would run.

Now I guesstimate based on what my current size is, and then I go down a size. In terms of jeans, since I have four pairs of 20s and a generous 18 that fit me now, if I get any more I’ll definitely get maybe one or two 18s, and then step down to a 16, since I will eventually be able to get into them. Tops are a little more tricky, because even though I have dropped 90 lbs., the girls are still quite ample. So depending on the size and cut of the top, it may or may not fit.

Tonight I was notified that I was the winner of an Alight giveaway at PJ Mommy, so I had to go onto the website, check out the sizing chart and figure out if I should get a 2X or a 1X. Their sizes seem to run on the smaller side, which means that I’d currently still be a 3X. So I went ahead and requested a 2X.

Who’d have thought that shopping for clothes after gastric bypass would still be such a pain?

With the day that Dan will haul home a Christmas tree and we’ll proceed to decorate it being just two days away, it suddenly dawned on me that I should probably find a silver tree skirt and silver tree topper to match this year’s color scheme. I’m not too picky about the tree skirt, but I had something very specific in mind for a tree topper: a poofy silver bow with cascading tails that cascade down the length of the tree. Apparently this type of ribbon must be a figment of my imagination, because it took me four stores to come up with a bow that semi-resembled the bow in my mind, and I had to buy a spool of silver holiday ribbon in order to be able to create that full-length cascading effect.

Ugh. I was going to continue this blog entry, but it’s 11:36pm, and I feel like I can barely keep my eyes open… Zzz…

Ah Target, my favorite store. I was able to get one of Dan’s Christmas presents from them this week, thanks to an awesome sale. And by awesome I mean a savings of $50. I had to take Dan to work this morning (tl;dr: forgotten, unpaid parking ticket from last spring turned into a suspended license that Dan found out about last night when he was pulled over. We went to the DMV today to find out the details, and will be paying the ticket and restoring his license tomorrow.), but since he was working a short shift it didn’t make sense to go home, even though that’s all I wanted to do — go home and crash. So I ran over to Target, kept my coughing to a minimum and coughed in my sleeve when I couldn’t hold back, used sanitizer to kill off germs before I spread them, and picked up said sale item. Last one on the shelf, too. I’m glad I didn’t wait!

I’m so unhappy about being sick. I have a concert to attend with my mom on Saturday, and I wanted to see my dad while we’re in Philadelphia. I also have some stuff going on next week that I’d rather not be sick for. Here’s to hoping I can shake this crap by Saturday, and if nothing else by Monday or Tuesday!

For a while there I was doing really good with blogging. I blogged every single day in July, and I was updating my other blogs frequently as well. Then August hit, and I flatlined. I’m still flatlining. Whatever insane amount of blogging energy I had is just gone. I’m just chugging through daily life, offline life. Online? Not so much. I do work, I catch up on feeds, I tweet, and then I load up jenn.nu and think about blogging, or putting together a new theme, but nothing productive happens.

Reading is taking up a big chunk of my time lately as well. I buzzed through The Constant Princess, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Boleyn Inheritance, and then turned around and ordered The Queen’s Fool and The Virgin’s Lover. Now I’m reading Divorced, Beheaded, Survived. Can you tell I’m on a Tudor kick?

I’ve also been busy with poop. Yes, poop. Ryan is having some bowel issues that is resulting in small bowel movements all damned day long. Blueboy got his ass up in the air over something and shit in our bed, Ryan’s bed and Alyssa’s bed. He hit our bed the most — four times, I think. The fourth was the most insulting/aggravating — I was checking Alyssa’s and Ryan’s beds and he did it in our bed then. And then Leah came down with some type of stomach bug early Monday morning. Even though she has been confined to the kitchen, I’ve still had plenty of messes to clean up from her exploding ass. *sigh*
So yes. I am SO sick of poop. I cannot begin to tell you the amount of laundry I have done lately. Or how many pounds of poop it seems like I have been coming into close contact with a daily basis.

Right now I am making my third attempt at installing OS x on my desktop. Our house’s wiring is stupid, so if the stars aren’t aligned just properly, running all of the AC units + the living room television + my desktop computer is enough to trip the breaker. Repeatedly. Gah. Good thing I have no data on either of my desktop’s hard drives to worry about. Equally good: surge protectors.

Can you believe I’m thinking ahead to Christmas already? I’m tired of scrambling for presents (or rather, money to buy presents) in December, so this year I am starting early dammit. I’ve taken care of two people so far: my brothers. My youngest brother (he’s going to be twelve this December!) is getting a PSP. I bought a used one off eBay for $70! It was just the PSP by itself, but I’m not going to pass up on such a great price, especially since it’s in new condition.
I can’t say what my other brother is getting, because he reads my blog. I have an idea or two for Dan, and we’ve been throwing around ideas for his brothers and sisters. Then it’s just my mother, a few aunts and uncles on Dan’s side of the family and Jason, and we’re good to go! (Easier said than done, but I can hope, can’t I?)

This summer is going so quick… Alyssa and Ryan go back to preschool in exactly one month! I can’t wait.

P.S. I have a tag for poop?! I have used that tag before?! Geez.

Near the end of January Dan and I set a goal for ourselves. Silly us, we thought we’d be able to have sex every single day of February. Needless to say, we didn’t complete our goal, but I’d say we did pretty well, considering how busy we are with Alyssa, Ryan, work, and all the running around I do for my mom and brothers:

Failed goal aside, fifteen times in a 28 day period is fucking amazing (no pun intended) for us. And so worth it, heh.

So, what’s everyone up to? Dan and I are going out tonight, and hopefully our plans won’t sort of fall through, like they did last weekend. We got desperate and traipsed around the ghetto fabulous Walmart, just to avoid going back home so soon! But I did score a nice set of Better Homes & Gardens end tables out of the deal, so I guess I can’t complain too much.
It’s supposed to snow tonight. We just found that out about an hour or so ago. Oops. Well, the worst if it won’t start until after midnight, so we’ll take our chances. New tires and comprehensive coverage FTW!

On a side note, I found a bra in my cup size (DDD, for those who may have ideas for where to buy bras!) at Torrid! Sweet!

P.P.S. Every day I fall a little more in love with my T-Mobile G1. Drool. Pant. Lust.

And we are READY! The K-Mart $500 gift card arrived around 4 today, and not long after I dropped Alyssa off at my mom’s and went to K-Mart to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Can you believe I got $440 worth of stuff? But seriously, the haul was HUGE. The cart was overflowing when I got up to the register, and of course once I pulled it all out and the cashier bagged it I couldn’t get it all back in again. I had to have Ryan walk with me out to my car, and even then crap was still falling off the shopping card left and right, and I was holding two bags in my hand.

Anyway, I cleaned and baked cookies this afternoon, bathed the kids and got them in bed by 9pm, and Dan helped me drag everything in and get it all situated and wrapped in preparation for CHRISTMAS YEAH CHRISTMAS IS TOMORROW! Sorry, I’m just a little excited.

I’m working on processing some photos now. I’ll be back in a bit to post them! But first I need to switch over laundry, bond with Leah (who is feeling pretty put out at not being plastered to me all day), vacuum up some pine needles and do my nails!

But I will leave you with this little gem that Dan snapped the other night:

My son also loves to fart, and cracks himself up while doing it. Ah, such a charming little guy!
